
Affiliations: MYSA (Massachusetts Youth Soccer Association)
Hingham Youth Soccer will assure that all players and members are affiliated with the appropriate state organization. This affiliation is required in order to provide the proper liability coverage. In the event that affiliation with a state organization is no longer possible, all players and associates must be registered and covered under a separate liability coverage plan. In either case, it is the responsibility of the player or associate to make sure that Hingham Youth Soccer receives the required information to provide affiliation or registered coverage.
Athletes’ Rights
It is the intent of Hingham Youth Soccer that all rules, regulations and actions affecting Hingham Youth Soccer help to provide for the safety, well-being and enjoyment of all players.
Admittance Policies, Rules and Regulations for Annual Registration
A player is considered registered if he/she has submitted all forms and payment as required by the Hingham Youth Soccer Registration Director. To be accepted, all forms must be completed in accordance with the instructions issued, and must be received by the Registration Director no later than the date specified by the Board of Directors for the season in which the player wishes to participate.
Player eligibility shall be determined by the player’s age or grade in school. He/she must have a parent or guardian release form, and must have paid all organization fees. Hingham Youth Soccer will accept any and all children living in town to play.
Failure to comply with the above registration procedures will eliminate the player or associate from participating in Hingham Youth Soccer, and may limit the player’s or associate’s coverage under any liability coverage obtained by Hingham Youth Soccer.
Late Fee
Players who have not submitted a completed entry form together with full payment before the deadline set by the Board of Directors will not be guaranteed a playing position on a team and will be charged a late fee. The amount of the late fee and grace period will be determined by the Board of Directors, and will be made known at least one month prior to the start of registration.
Refund Policy
Registrants who must cancel prior to September 1, 2005 can receive a refund of their registration fee, less $15.00 for processing fee. After September 1st, there are no refunds. Please register only if you’re sure you can play. Late dropouts can leave teams shorthanded, making things difficult for the remaining players.
Waiting List
Once the registration deadline has passed, all late registrants will be placed on the waiting list for his/her age group. Each age-group coordinator will work with the Registrar to manage the waiting list for their age group. We will work to place as many wait-listed children as possible, although players who register late cannot be guaranteed placement on a Hingham Youth Soccer team. Our mission is to ensure a great soccer experience for ALL the children in the program, so we have placed limits on the number of players per team. Once these limits have been reached, no additional players can be accepted.
Scholarships
It is the policy of Hingham Youth Soccer that no child should be denied the opportunity to play soccer due to a family’s financial situation. Those applying for a scholarship should use the by-mail registration option. Fill out the registration form and attach a note requesting a scholarship. All scholarship requests are confidential.
Uniform Policy
Hingham Youth Soccer provides a uniform to all players participating in the in-town program (U6 Kickers Divisions have a reversible jersey, U8 Junior Division and U10 Senior Divisions have a shirt, shorts and socks.) Children participating in our Travel Program are required to purchase or obtain an official Hingham Youth Soccer uniform. Uniforms must be purchased at the time of registration. To order a uniform, please complete the Travel Division Uniform section on the registration form.
Player Transfer and Placement
Players may not be transferred from one team to another after the rosters have been finalized without the approval the Division Director.
No player at or below the age of ten (10), twelve (12), and fourteen (14) years as determined by Hingham Youth Soccer rules shall be allowed to play up in an age group above that which would be normal for his or her age unless the organization does not have enough players to field a viable team at the child’s appropriate age level. In that eventuality, players would be allowed to join the next oldest age group. The only other exception to this rule would be to allow a player in a town program to participate on a team on which the majority of his or her school grade peers were also placed.
Coaching Positions
Anyone interested in an appointment as a coach or assistant coach must submit his/her name to a member of the Board of Directors. If you would like to be a coach or assistant coach or to lend a hand in any capacity, please complete the Parental Support section of the registration application. You will also be subject to a CORI background check. This is required for all volunteers.
Any coach or assistant coach desiring to change the age group in which they are coaching, or their status from coach to assistant coach or from assistant coach to coach, must submit his/her name to a member of the Board of Directors and clearly indicate the desired change.
Age Groups
The Hingham Youth Soccer program will have age groups for under 19/18 (travel only), under 16 (travel only), under 14 (travel only), under 12 (travel only), under 10 (town/travel optional), under 8 (town only), and under 6 (town only). A player must turn the minimum age by August 1 of the year in order to play in the fall season.

Player Registration Cost
The cost per player will be set by the Board of Directors.
Registration Fees
All boys and girls entering Kindergarten and above are eligible to participate. Registration will close Wednesday, June 1, 2005 and every player registered on time is guaranteed a spot.
In-Town League
Kickers: $75.00 (includes uniform)
Juniors: $100.00 (includes uniform)
Seniors: $100.00 (includes uniform)
Travel League
All Players: $100.00 per player plus $50.00 for Travel Uniform
Late Fee Registration Policy
All returning players who respond after the deadline Wednesday, June 1, 2005, will be subject to a $25.00 late fee per child.
Compliance and Sanctions
Each coach is responsible for verifying that all of the players are properly registered and qualified to play on a team.
If it is determined that a team has used an unregistered, suspended, over-age, or otherwise unqualified player in a game, the game shall be considered a forfeit. In addition, the Board of Directors or Division Director may suspend the team, coach and/or the player for a certain number of games or period of time. Any player who misrepresents his/her age will be suspended for the remainder of the season. A coach or assistant coach knowingly using an over-age, suspended, unregistered, or otherwise unqualified player will be automatically suspended and only readmitted to the Hingham Youth Soccer program after applying in writing to the Board of Directors or Division Director. The Board of Directors or Division Director’s decision concerning coaches and assistant coaches can be changed only by a majority vote of the Board of Directors during a meeting of the Board at which a quorum exists.
Two Ways to Register Your Child
In-Town Program
Players will play 6 vs. 6 on a small-sided field with appropriate sized goals and designated goalies (similar to the second grade division). Teams will play only on Hingham fields against other Hingham teams. This is an excellent program promoting fun and improvement in all soccer skills.
Travel Program
Players will play 7 vs. 7 on a slightly larger field with slightly larger sized goals with designated goalies. Teams will play against other towns including Duxbury, Hanover, Pembroke and Kingston. Approximately half of the games will be played in Hingham while the other games will be played away. Participation in the Travel Program does require a larger commitment because of the time necessary for travel. The level of play is not necessarily higher in the travel program.
Both Programs offer players the opportunity to improve their soccer skills and have fun.
Players wishing to participate in the U10 Travel division can use the on-line / mail-in registration option or the register in person option. All players need to fill out the registration form and attach a note requesting to participate in the U10 Travel Program. If you decided NOT to participate in the U10 Travel Program, your child will be placed on an in-town team.
